Our theme for the 2014-2015 MOPS year is "Be You, Bravely".
Come join us as we spend time together discovering
how to pursue COURAGE in our every day lives.

"Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past.  See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?  I am making a way in the
wilderness and streams in the wasteland."
Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV)

2013 - 2014 MOPS Theme

It is time to start a new MOPS year! We have a lot of fun things planned and we look forward to seeing you on Tuesday morning.

June 12, 2013

Summer Fun!

Check out the events tab to find information about our summer schedule. We have weekly play dates and monthly moms' night out events.

March 08, 2013

We've had a full past few months!

Our most recent project ("Resurrection Eggs") was the result of some serious prep work that a few MOPS moms helped out with at the last UFO night at Vasilisa's house.

In January, we enjoyed an 80's flashback bunko night, complete with fuzzy dice and big hair!

Last fall, our MOPS group compiled enough goodies/toys/shoes/hygiene products to fill 32 boxes for Operation Christmas Child!

We've also head from some helpful speakers about couponing and educational choices, and swapped stuff for our kids and ourselves!

Now that the Easter season is here, we wish you and your family a wonderful celebration of all that was accomplished on the cross!

December Mom's Night Out!

"Ugly" Sweater party included a "mugging" - everyone exchanged
mugs before tasting the wonderful soups.

Rebecca's outfit won "ugliest" sweater - complete with REAL Christmas lights that lit up!

Vasilisa's butternut squash earned the title of "Best Soup" for the second year in a row!

November 27, 2012

We had a great morning learning about safety and protection!

Marc Gardner from Self-Defense Personal Safety Academy shared techniques for breaking away from choke-holds.  Elle helped demonstrate how to act quickly and confidently!

Lydia showed us how to get away safely if pinned on the ground

All the MOPS moms were watching closely - such valuable information for
proactively keeping our children safe and secure!

If you would like access to more information that Marc presented,
you can check out his website:

Have a wonderful day ladies - be safe and smart and confident!

Have you hugged your little ones today?

Get ready's starting to feel like fall (FINALLY!), and our next MOPS meeting will eventually result in the wonderful aroma of apple pie wafting through our homes!  Bring your apron and prepare to get your hands a little messy, because we will be slicing apples and assembling our very own apple pies.  Contact your table leaders if you have any questions!

ALSO - check out the new "NEWSLETTERS" link on our page - if you miss a MOPS meeting and want to be in-the-know, you can catch up and read through the fun information in our monthly publication.

September 11, 2012

Hooray for a spectacular MOPS kick-off!

So many new faces and familiar faces!  We enjoyed a superb breakfast spread (seriously, will anyone else be hitting up Stephanie for her lemon-blueberry scone recipe?), made sparkly new name tags, met the leadership crew, saw a MOPS-inspired Veggie Tales promo video, and engaged in lively conversation with our table groups!  If you missed it, you are welcome to join in the fun ANYTIME!

Don't forget to put all of the upcoming events in your calendar!

Coming up:
THIS FRIDAY night (Sept. 14th) at Starbucks on Madison/Dewey at 7:30 pm - have a cup of whatever and get to know some ladies from our group.

ALSO - if I didn't snap your photo on your way out today, please remember to send me (Jodi - a recent headshot to use for our photo directory.  Thanks!

Have a blessed week, and see you soon!

That's right!

We DO rule - and it's not just because we have the toughest job in the world, but also because we are constantly seeking ways to improve our game plan!  Come hang out with some AMAZING moms and see what a little encouragement and fun can add to your life!

Our FIRST MOPS meeting is coming up soon, so mark your calendars!
Our new theme for the 2012-2013 year is "Plunge" -  we will explore the idea of diving whole-heartedly into our roles as moms, as well as boldly loving the people that are placed in our lives.

There are quite a few events (playdates, mom's nights, etc...) between now and then, so check out the new Events page on the side bar.

Be there, or be......just be there.  See you soon!

We have a MOPPETS Co-ordinator!

Good news, ladies! Our very own Clarissa French has decided to take on the role of MOPPETS coordinator this year, allowing us to breathe a sigh of relief that MOPS will still continue. Please join me in welcoming her to this new role and praising God for providing yet again.

Here is what she had when I asked her what she had to say about her new role.

How long have you been with MOPS?
7 years, 5 as just a mom and 2 on steering team with Creative role.

How long in leadership?
Leadership is a life long gift, I've been in leadership since I can remember, it's been fun participating in Mops leadership the past 2 years.

What did you love about MOPS?
The friendships that were available if I made the effort and the others did, I've made a few life long friends and some life stage friends that I'll never forget.

What are your hobbies/interests?
Children's Ministry, Pampered Chef, Sewing, Puzzles, Scrap-booking, Bowling, Choir, Pottery, Organization, I'm simply scattered these days, in this stage of life I'm taking my hobbies/interests very lightly... you can only do so much as a mom of young ones so I just do what is fun at the moment if it fits the schedule.

What are you looking forward to most about this role at MOPPETS?
Blessing the Moms with everything I've recieved in the past 7 years, at some point I just realized I was "all grown up" so to speak, and needed more then anything to step back and serve others. Plus, I get to use my early childhood education on all the kiddos, I'm finally getting to use my brain again!

What scares you the most regarding this role?
Failure, we all fear failure, I will need constant reminders that "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." and to remember that fear is not from the Lord.

Anything else you want to add?
I'm so excited, please share my excitement with those around you so they will want to serve our kids too!

We are currently looking for someone to fill our MOPPETS co-ordinator position for the 2011 - 2012 MOPS year. Health Challenge!

One of our very own MOPS moms Alison Zander recommended this page to me and I thought it was worth mentioning here. Sacramento Parent is hosting a one month health challenge on Facebook. It's a fun way to make healthy choices. The rules are simple. You print out a score card and then get one point per day for doing the things mentioned on there. Most of it is simple stuff - like remembering to do something nice for someone else, getting outside for 15 minutes or getting some sort of exercise for 30 minutes. At the end of the day you add up your points and then also at the end of the week.

The best part? You pick a partner - or two or three - and keep one another accountable. You share what's easy, what's hard and what really is impossible. It's fun, ladies. Join us. There's a bonus challenge (everyday, I think) for extra fun.

If you want to do this with us (from today May 9th through June 6th) send me a message on Facebook. I'll add you on!

The Great Moms' Walk Coming Up!

MOPS believes that Mothering Matters and that Better moms make a better world!

MOPS exists to encourage, equip and develop every mother of preschoolers to realize her potential as a woman, mother and leader. The Great Moms Walk is a fundraising event for MOPS groups across the country to raise community awareness of MOPS, raise funds for their group and to grow MOPS groups worldwide. MOPS is making better moms for a better world and you can help by donating to your local Great Moms Walk today! Just click the "Donate" button on the upper right hand corner of this blog.

MOPS is a non-profit organization, so all donations are 100% tax deductible! (tax ID #94-2497077)

We view this as a mighty cause in which to invest and partake. We need your support! Please consider making a donation and make a difference in the lives of families-both locally and nationwide. Your donation will support our local charter at Christ Community Church in Carmichael.

The Great Moms Walk will take place at 10am at Old Fair Oaks during the Fair Oaks Spring Parade. We will be there with our mops! ;)

Blessed Day

Our annual Tea and Treasures went supremely well today. Thank you to all who prayed for us. Thank you also to the extra volunteers - for MOPPETS as well as servers for your heart and hands. Most of the seventy-odd moms we love and cherish were able to attend - some were in labor. That's right - two of our MOPS moms had little MOPPETS today! The Lord was fully present as testimonies declared His Name and the work He continues to do in our lives.

What a blessed day!

Tea and Treasures

We are all excited about the upcoming Tea and Treasures! As the lovely invitation on the left mentions, it is a catered tea party with treasures from the hearts of the leaders. Everyone is excited but prayers are needed, so if you have stumbled upon this blog by accident, please pray for us. We have run into a few glitches with leaders getting sick and their children getting into accidents. Since this is an event not just to dress up and have tea but also a huge opportunity to share the gospel and the light of the Lord Jesus Christ, we have no illusions about what might be behind the sudden unforeseen "accidents."
Please keep our MOPS group in your prayers.

Movies with "Kids in mind"

Before renting a movie learn more about it. A website called is a great resource for parents. You can learn what words are said, what type of nudity and how much, and if there is violence in the film. It really gets specific on the content of the movie.
